أُصيب بالرصاص من عناصر من شرطة حرس الحدود متخفّين أثناء فراره منهم وهم ينسحبون من مخيم بلاطة للاجئين. ثم أُطلق عليه النار مرة أخرى وهو ملقى جريحًا على الأرض. وأظهر تحليل الطب الشرعي أن ريان أُصيب بعدة رصاصات في أنحاء جسده، من الأمام ومن الخلف.

Shot by undercover Border Police officers while fleeing from them, as they were withdrawing from Balata Refugee Camp. He was then shot again while lying injured on the ground. A forensic analysis found that Rayan sustained many bullet shots throughout his body, in front and from behind.
