أُصيب بجروح خطيرة برصاص أطلقه مستوطنان إسرائيليان وهو منحنٍ بين حاويات القمامة قرب الطريق ٦٠، بعد أن رشق السيارات على الطريق بالحجارة. وبحسب أحد مطلقي النار، حاول عبد الفتاح أيضًا طعن ابنة المستوطن التي كانت في سيارة. وواصل المستوطنان إطلاق النار على عبد الفتاح وهو ملقى جريحًا على الأرض. وذكرت تقارير إعلامية أنه توفي لاحقًا في مستشفى في إسرائيل. وتحتجز إسرائيل جثمانه.

Critically injured by shots that two Israeli settlers fired as he crouched between dumpsters by Route 60, after he threw stones at cars on the road. According to one of the shooters, ‘Abd al-Fatah had also tried to knife the settler’s daughter who was in a car. The two settlers continued firing at ‘Abd al-Fatah as he lay wounded on the ground. Media reports stated that he later died in hospital in Israel. Israel is holding his body.
