Critically wounded by several gunshots to the upper body. The police claim he was shot after coming to a Border Police base; he seemed suspicious to the officers there and they began to pursue him. According to the police, Yunes pulled out a knife and tried to open the door of a police car that was blocking his way. A policeman got out of the car and shot him. He succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Israel.
