Terluka fatal di kepala oleh tembakan aparat keamanan Israel selama Aksi Kepulangan Akbar di dekat pagar perbatasan Gaza, sebelah utara kota Khuza'ah; ribuan orang ikut serta dalam aksi tersebut. Abu Jamus ditembak saat berada sekitar 100 m dari pagar. Selama aksi, ia membakar ban dan melempari batu ke arah aparat keamanan Israel yang ditempatkan di sisi lain pagar. Fatally wounded in the head from shots fired by Israeli security forces during the Return Protests near the Gaza perimeter fence, north of the town Khuza'ah; thousands took part in the protests. Abu Jamus was shot when he was approximately 100m away from the fence. During the protest he had torched tires and thrown stones at Israeli security forces stationed on the other side of the fence. Succumbed to his wounds later that day.
