আবাসান আল-জাদিদা শহরের পূর্বে গাজা সীমান্ত বেড়ার কাছে গ্রেট মার্চ অব রিটার্ন বিক্ষোভের সময় ইসরায়েলি নিরাপত্তা বাহিনীর গুলিতে আহত হন; হাজার হাজার মানুষ বিক্ষোভে অংশ নেন। বিক্ষোভের সময় কিছু বিক্ষোভকারী টায়ার জ্বালান এবং বেড়ার অপর পাশে অবস্থানরত ইসরায়েলি নিরাপত্তা বাহিনীর দিকে পাথর ছোড়েন। আহত হওয়ার পর তিনি কোমায় ছিলেন। মিসরে চিকিৎসা শেষে ফেরার পথে রাফাহ ক্রসিংয়ের মিসরীয় অংশে একটি অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে আঘাতের কারণে শহীদ হন।
