È stato ferito da colpi d'arma da fuoco dei soldati vicino alle condutture idriche principali della cittadina di Beita. Il giorno dopo la sparatoria, sul posto sono stati trovati attrezzi metallici da idraulico. Salim, che faceva l'idraulico, era venuto lì diverse volte in passato per riparare le condutture. È morto per le ferite poco dopo. Israele ha trattenuto il suo corpo fino al 10 agosto 2021.

Wounded by soldiers’ gunfire near the water mains of the town of Beita. The day after the shooting, metal plumbing tools were found at the scene. Salim, who worked as a plumber, had come there several times before to fix the mains. He succumbed to his wounds shortly after. Israel held his body until 10 August 2021.
