È stato ucciso mentre stava per pranzare nel cortile della casa di suo fratello, dove si era rifugiato con la moglie e il figlio, in un raid aereo sull'edificio a-Shawa in via al-Wehda, di fronte alla casa. Killed as he was about to have lunch in the yard of his brother's house, where he was sheltering with his wife and son, in an airstrike on the a-Shawa building on al-Wehda Street opposite the house. His niece, a minor, was also killed. The strike destroyed the two top floors of the a-Shawa building, which held NGO offices.
