অন্য তরুণদের সঙ্গে ফুটবল খেলার সময় শহীদ হন। দুজন আহত হয়ে ঘটনাস্থলেই শহীদ হন এবং কয়েক মিনিট পর আরও ট্যাংকের গোলা ছোড়া হলে ঘটনাস্থলে আরও দুজন শহীদ হন। ঘটনাস্থলে থাকা লড়াইয়ে অংশগ্রহণকারী আরেক ব্যক্তিও আহত হন এবং তিন দিন পর আঘাতের কারণে শহীদ হন। এর কিছুক্ষণ আগে সশস্ত্র ফিলিস্তিনিরা সীমান্ত বেড়ার কাছে একটি সামরিক টহল জিপে ট্যাংকবিধ্বংসী ক্ষেপণাস্ত্র ছুড়েছিল।
