আল-বুরেইজ শরণার্থী শিবিরের পূর্বে গাজার সীমান্ত বেড়ার কাছে এক বিক্ষোভে প্রায় ৫০ মিটার দূরে থাকা সেনাদের গুলিতে শহীদ হন। বিক্ষোভের সময় বেড়ার ওপাশের সেনাদের দিকে পাথর ছোড়া হয়। বেতসেলেমের অনুসন্ধানে দেখা যায়, গুলিবিদ্ধ হওয়ার সময় আবু হামিসা পাথর ছুড়ছিলেন না।
