The incident occurred during the Return Protests near the fence, east of Jabalya Refugee Camp; thousands took part in the protests. During the demonstration, some of the demonstrators torched tires and threw stones, explosive devices and improvised grenades at Israeli security forces who were stationed on the other side of the fence.
