أُصيب بالرصاص من جنود دخلوا المنزل وفتحوا النار، فاستُشهد والده عطية السموني وأُصيب هو وآخرون من العائلة. ولم يسمح الجنود لسيارات الإسعاف بدخول المنطقة، فتوفي.

Shot by soldiers who came into the house and opened fire, killing his father, 'Attiyah a-Samuni, and wounding him and others in the family. Soldiers did not let ambulances enter the area, and he died.
