Shot in the torso by Israeli security forces while he was dragging a tin can with a burning tire on top of it, when he was about 300 meters from the fence, during the Return Protests near the Gaza perimeter fence, east of the city of Rafah; thousands took part in the protests. During the demonstration, some of the demonstrators shot burning arrows, torched tires and threw stones at Israeli security forces who were stationed on the other side of the fence.
