Alipigwa risasi begani na vikosi vya usalama vya Israel wakati wa Maandamano Makuu ya Kurejea karibu na uzio wa mpaka wa Gaza, mashariki mwa mji wa Rafah; maelfu walishiriki katika maandamano hayo. Wakati wa maandamano, baadhi ya waandamanaji walichoma matairi na kurusha mawe kwa vikosi vya usalama vya Israel vilivyokuwa upande wa pili wa uzio. Jeshi la Israel lilidai kuwa mabomu ya bomba, mabomu ya petroli na guruneti vilirushwa wakati wa maandamano na kuangukia ndani ya Ukanda wa Gaza.

Hit in the shoulder by Israeli security forces’ gunfire during the Return Protests near the Gaza perimeter fence, east of the city of Rafah; thousands took part in the protests. During the demonstration, some of the demonstrators torched tires and threw stones at Israeli security forces who were stationed on the other side of the fence. The Israeli military claimed that pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails and a grenade were thrown during the protest and landed inside the Gaza Strip.
