मोहम्मद अलियान के साथ घर जाते समय घायल हुआ। जिस क्षेत्र में वे थे, वहाँ से सशस्त्र व्यक्तियों ने स्पष्टतः इसराइल पर रॉकेट दाग़े थे। इलाज के लिए उसे मिस्र और फिर सऊदी अरब ले जाया गया, जहाँ घावों के कारण उसकी मौत हो गई।
