আশ-শেখ জায়েদ টাওয়ারে পাশাপাশি অবস্থিত তাঁদের অ্যাপার্টমেন্টগুলোতে বোমা হামলায় স্ত্রী, অপ্রাপ্তবয়স্ক ছেলে এবং তিন মাস বয়সী এক শিশুকন্যাসহ আল-গাজালি পরিবারের তিন সদস্যের সঙ্গে শহীদ হন। বোমা হামলার পরদিনই কেবল তাঁর ও তাঁর স্ত্রীর মরদেহ খুঁজে পাওয়া যায়।
