أُصيب بالرصاص من الخلف من عناصر وحدة الشرطة الخاصة أثناء هروبه من سيارته بعد أن سدّ العناصر طريقه ومنعوه من المضي. وأُصيب راكب فلسطيني آخر كان في السيارة بالرصاص. وبحسب الشرطة، كان الاثنان قد أطلقا النار على العناصر. وتُرك العمري ملقى على الأرض دون علاج طبي نصف ساعة على الأقل. وخلال تبادل لإطلاق النار تلا ذلك بين القوات الإسرائيلية وعناصر المخابرات العسكرية الفلسطينية، استُشهد اثنان من الأخيرين وأُصيب ثالث. وتحتجز إسرائيل جثمان العمري، وكان عنصرًا في الجناح العسكري للجهاد الإسلامي.

Shot from behind by Special Police Unit officers as he was escaping from his car after the officers blocked him from driving away. Another Palestinian passenger who was in the car was injured by the shooting. According to the police, the two had opened fire at the officers. ‘Amuri was left lying on the ground without medical treatment for at least half an hour. During an ensuing exchange of fire between Israeli forces and PA military intelligence officers, two of the latter were killed and a third wounded. Israel is holding the body of ‘Amuri, who was an Islamic Jihad’s military wing operative.
