أُصيب أثناء فراره من منزله، قرب منزل القيادي الرفيع في حماس محمود الزهار الذي كان يُقصف، وتوفي بعد نحو أسبوعين متأثرًا بجراحه. واستُشهد شقيقان له في الحادث.

Wounded while fleeing from his home, near the house of senior Hamas official Mahmud a-Zahar, which was being bombed, and died some two weeks later from his wounds. Two of his brothers were killed in the incident.
