بينما كان في طريقه إلى رفح مع رسمي أبو جرير لجلب الوقود، أطلقت دبابة النار عليهما فأُصيبا. اتصل بأخيه، لكنهما كانا قد استُشهدا عندما وصل.

While on the way to Rafah with Rasmi Abu Jarir to get fuel, a tank opened fire on them, wounding both of them. He phoned his brother, but they were dead by the time he arrived.
