استُشهد في المنزل مع والدته وأخويه وأخته، وجميعهم قاصرون، وعمته وأربعة من أبنائها القاصرين الذين كانوا يقيمون عندهم. ودُمّر المنزل بالكامل ودُمّرت خمسة منازل قريبة جزئيًا. ووالده علاء أبو حطب عنصر في الجناح العسكري لحماس، لكن من غير المعروف ما إذا كان هو المستهدف بالهجوم.

Killed at home with his mother, his two brothers and his sister, all minors, and his aunt and four of her children, all minors, who were staying with them. The house was completely destroyed and five nearby houses were partially destroyed.
