Hit in the head by Israeli security forces’ gunfire as he was throwing stones at them from a distance of several dozen meters from the fence during the Return Protests near the Gaza perimeter fence, northeast of the town of a-Sureij; up to hundreds took part in the protests. During the demonstration, some of the demonstrators torched tires and threw stones at Israeli security forces who were stationed on the other side of the fence. Al-Baz succumbed to his wounds shortly after.
