Lavorava come giornalista per la piattaforma Untold Palestine e per il sito Mondoweiss. who worked as a journalist for the Untold Palestine platform and the Mondoweiss website. Hassouna was martyred, along with 10 of her relatives, when their family home in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City was bombed on April 16, 2025. She was martyred one day after her documentary film was announced as a winner at the Cannes Film Festival.
