در جریان راهپیمایی بزرگ بازگشت در نزدیکی حصار مرزی غزه، در شمال شهرک الصیفا، هنگامی که در فاصله چند ده متری حصار بود، بر اثر شلیک نیروهای امنیتی اسرائیل از ناحیه ران هدف گلوله قرار گرفت؛ صدها نفر در این راهپیمایی شرکت داشتند. در جریان این تظاهرات، برخی از تظاهرکنندگان لاستیک آتش زدند؛ ابوجبل و دیگر تظاهرکنندگان به سوی نیروهای امنیتی اسرائیل مستقر در آن سوی حصار سنگ پرتاب کردند.
