Recibió un disparo en el abdomen de las fuerzas de seguridad israelíes mientras les lanzaba piedras durante la Gran Marcha del Retorno cerca de la valla perimetral de Gaza, al norte de la localidad de Khuza'ah; miles de personas participaron en las protestas. Durante la manifestación, algunos manifestantes quemaron neumáticos y lanzaron piedras, artefactos explosivos y cócteles molotov contra las fuerzas de seguridad israelíes apostadas al otro lado de la valla. Murió a causa de sus heridas en un hospital de Hebrón.

Shot in the abdomen by Israeli security forces while he was throwing stones at them during the Return Protests near the Gaza perimeter fence, north of the town of Khuza’ah; thousands took part in the protests. During the demonstration, some of the demonstrators torched tires and threw stones, explosive devices and Molotov cocktails at Israeli security forces who were stationed on the other side of the fence. He died of his wounds in hospital in Hebron.
