Shot in the chest by Israeli security forces when he was several dozen meters from the fence, during the Return Protests near the Gaza perimeter fence, east of Gaza City; thousands took part in the protests. During the demonstration, some of the demonstrators torched tires and threw stones, explosive devices, improvised grenades and Molotov cocktails at Israeli security forces who were stationed on the other side of the fence.
