Killed together with 32 other people, including two of his children and his sister, in their apartment on the third story of a populated apartment block hit by a strike. The building collapsed on the people inside, all of whom were killed, including a family that had found shelter in an abandoned kindergarten on the first story. A girl in a neighboring house was also killed in the attack.
