जिस कार में वह अपने परिवार के साथ सफ़र कर रहा था, उसके सैनिकों से दूर जाते समय सैनिकों ने लगभग 30 मीटर की दूरी से उस पर गोली चलाई, जिससे शरीर के ऊपरी हिस्से में घायल हुआ। उसी दिन बाद में घावों के कारण उसकी मौत हो गई।
