Mort brûlé avec sa sœur et ses deux frères lorsqu'un obus au phosphore blanc a frappé sa maison. Son père a été tué, touché directement par l'obus. Cinq autres membres de la famille ont été brûlés par le phosphore, dont une a ensuite succombé à ses blessures.

Burned to death along with his sister and two brothers when a white-phosphorous shell struck his house. His father was killed when struck directly by the shell. Five other family members were burned by the phosphorous, one of whom later died from her wounds.
