Sustained mortal injuries to the chest and stomach when shot by Israeli security forces during the Return Protests near the Gaza perimeter fence, east of the city of Rafah; thousands took part in the protests. During the protest, some of the demonstrators torched tires and threw stones at Israeli security forces stationed on the other side of the fence. Died of his injuries later that day.
