استُشهد عندما أُطلق عليه وعلى جار كان مارًّا صاروخ ثانٍ بعد أن حاول الفرار من منزله بعد دقائق من قصف فناء منزل عمه عادل أبو هويشل، وهو عنصر في الجناح المسلح لحماس. واستُشهد الرجال الثلاثة جميعًا.
