أُصيب بالرصاص وجُرح من جنود كانوا في كمين بعد أن ألقى، بحسب الجيش، زجاجة حارقة على الطريق ٦٠ مع فتى فلسطيني آخر اعتُقل. وتوفي متأثرًا بجراحه في اليوم نفسه. واحتجزت إسرائيل جثمانه حتى ٢٠ نوفمبر ٢٠٢١.
